Once there was a girl named Ruby. She was very brave and kind. One day, Ruby went for a picnic with her parents and little brother James. When Ruby was playing with her younger brother, she saw a very beautiful butterfly. She was enthralled by its charm and looked at it carefully. Ruby knew a lot about butterflies and she realised she was looking at a rare species.

She called her parents and her little brother. They saw the butterfly flitting from one flower to the other. After the butterfly had flown off, the family followed it into the woods. They saw the butterfly sitting on a sunflower and suddenly a magical door appeared in front of them. They opened the door and went inside. What they saw was breathtaking. A sea of butterflies of various colours, sizes and kinds, and they haven’t spotted any of them before.

Did I forget to tell you that Jemma, Ruby’s mother, had entered the secret door many years ago as a small girl? When they all entered the magical door, Jemma  was taking a trip down memory lane. She squealed, “Do you remember the stories I told you about the secret door?“

James said, “Yes, we remember.”

Ruby said, “Didn’t you tell us that there are many fairies here?”

Jemma said, “Oh yes, Where are the fairies? Let’s go inside and search.”

James spotted a fairy. He was excited and called his family. But the fairy looked very frightened. They asked the fairy why was she so scared. When the fairy looked at them Jemma recalled that the fairy looked just like the fairy who had been very kind to her when Jemma was very young and entered the secret door.  The fairy said that it’s been many years since we met. Then Ruby and James asked, “Why do you look so frightened, dear fairy?”

The fairy replied, “Oh, I am scared because there is this evil sorcerer who wants to put a curse on the queen’s first born.”

Then all of them asked why the sorcerer wanted to put a curse on their first born.  The fairy said someone told the sorcerer that when the queen’s first born child will grow up, she will take away all of the sorcerer’s powers.

Jemma asked where are all the other fairies. The fairy said that now a days all fairies have to take turns to take care of the first-born child. They asked if only some fairies have to take care of the first born then where are the others.

The fairy said that some fairies believe that the sorcerer won’t just kill the first born, we all think that the sorcerer might also kill the queen.

Jemma asked if there were some fairies helping the queen to take care of the first born.

The fairy said, “Yes many fairies are taking care of the first born.”

Suddenly, Ruby spotted a man flyby on a broom stick who also wore a long conical hat. Ruby asked the fairy if that was the Sorcerer. The fairy said yes.

The fairy then fluttered away and told the soldiers to get ready for battle and told the queen that the sorcerer has come to attack them.

They all protected the baby and won the war against the sorcerer. It was a victory of good over evil. The fairy thanked Ruby for spotting the sorcerer and warning her that the sorcerer is coming.

“Why are you thanking me?”  Ruby asked.

“I am thanking you because you warned me that the sorcerer is coming. You saved our lives,” the fairy said.

Then all the other fairies thanked Jemma and her family for saving them. All the fairies waved them goodbye and Jemma and her family happily went back home.
