Once upon a time, there was a girl named Anna. She was very poor and lived with her mother and three cousins in a small town.
One day, when Anna was getting water from the lake, her jug fell in the lake. Anna was very upset and she started crying. She was poor and knew she could not buy another jug. Suddenly, a lady appeared from the lake and she asked Anna why was she crying. Anna said she had only one jug to fetch water and that it fell into the lake.
The lady said she will help her find the jug. Anna was very happy to hear this. So, the lady went back into the water and came out with not one but three jugs. One jug was made of wood, the other jug was made of silver and the third jug was made of gold and it was sparkling bright. The lady asked Anna if the golden jug was hers. Anna said no, so the lady asked if the silver jug was hers. Anna said no, so then the lady asked if the wooden jug was hers and Anna said yes.
Thus, Anna got her jug back. When she was about to go back to her house, she heard the lady calling her. She turned around. The lady said, “Anna, you have been honest with me. So, I will grant you two wishes.”
Anna said, “My first wish is that I want the world to be safe and my second wish is that all the poor people should have good homes and good food to eat.” After that Anna thanked the lady and went back home.
The next day, Anna woke up to a bright and a beautiful day and she soon realised that her house had been transformed into a beautiful house! When she went downstairs, she saw good food on the table and her family was shocked to see it all. Anna’s mom happily said she got a job as well.
Anna then told her family about the lady in the lake who granted her wishes. They all started to eat after listening to her story. When her mother tried to reach out for water, she realised that their wooden jug was not there. Instead, there were two jugs which were made of gold and silver.
Anna knew that it was the lady at the lake who made all this happen. Initially, Anna’s mom and her cousins didn’t connect this to Anna’s story and were confused. But they soon realised what happened.
After their meal, Anna‘s mom said, “I’d better go to work now, I do not want to miss my first day at work or get late.” After Anna’s mom left, Anna was happy to play with her cousins and they all lived happily ever after.
