From this academic year, admission to central universities will be based on the Common University Entrance Examination (CUET). However, it is not mandatory for state universities to opt for the centralised test even though they have been given the flexibility to use the CUET score.

CUET, formerly known as the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), is an India-wide test organised by the National Testing Agency for admission to various undergraduate courses, integrated courses, postgraduate courses, diplomas, certificates and research programs at 45 central universities in India.
